To provide learners with the required knowledge and practical skills to maintain and operate a rescue craft during normal and emergency situations.
COURSE OUTCOMES
On completion of the course, learners will be able to:
• Describe hull design, general requirements and basic workings of the engine, gearbox, steering and electrics
• Launch and recover a Fast Rescue Craft from a slipway or a vessel in response to alarm signals and scheduled drills
• Demonstrate effective boat handling techniques in all weather conditions at all speeds
• Recover Man overboard and provide emergency first aid
• Effectively Demonstrate coming in and leaving from alongside
• Demonstrate pacing at sea alongside a parent vessel to effect passenger and causality transfer
• Maintain effective radio communications
• Conduct search patterns in open water and coastal areas
• Demonstrate effective towing techniques, e.g. lifeboats and life-rafts
• Carry out maintenance as described in manufacturers handbooks
