The purpose of this course is to prepare pilots and aircrew for travel by Helicopter and to successfully escape from a variety of emergency situations when a Helicopter ditches into water using Emergency Breathing System (EBS).
COURSE OUTCOME:
On completion of the course, participants will be able to:
Describe:
· Pre-boarding, boarding, in flight and disembarkation procedures
· The physics of the EBS
Demonstrate:
· The evacuation process including donning helicopter lifejackets, use of escape routes and exits, and the operation of onboard emergency equipment
· Evacuation from a Helicopter following a ditching on land
· Dry evacuation from a helicopter ditched on water to a Heli-Raft
· Escape through an exit underwater, from a partially submerged helicopter
· Evacuation techniques in a variety of scenarios from a capsized helicopter and inflate the Heli-Jacket
· The safe operation of the EBS equipment
· EBS clearing procedures
· Correct evacuation from a ditched helicopter using EBS
· Safe Helicopter winching
· Correct technique when climbing a rescue scramble net
· State the different types of emergencies and describe the likely ditching and emergency landing scenarios
· Sea Survival Techniques, Heat Escape Lessening Position (HELP), Survival Line and Circle, use of the Heli-Raft
