Target Audience? Is for personnel that wish to renew their OPITO Stage 3 or Stage 4 competent Banksmen & Slinger certificate (two year validity for each certificate). Aims and Course Elements: The aim and objective of the OPITO Stage 4 competence reassessment is to establish that the candidate has maintained the competence requirement for the role of Banksman & Slinger. UNIT 3 : Direct and Control the Movement and Placing of Loads The candidate Banksman will be required to perform all of the lifts 1 to 5 specified below - to the Performance criteria specified in Element 3.1 Lift Types: 1. A simple pre-slung lift 2. A bundled tubular lift 3. A restricted access lift 4. A lift in which the load has an offset centre of gravity 5. A blind lift UNIT 4 : Prepare and Sling Loads The candidate Slinger will be required to perform all slung load types 1 to 3 specified below - to the criteria specified in Element 4.1 Types of Slung loads: 1. Prepare and sling a simple lift (not pre-slung) 2. Prepare and sling a bundle of 3 or more tubulars 3. Prepare and sling a load with an offset centre of gravity
