To ensure that at completion of the Course, the candidate will meet the minimum standard of competence in order to undertake duties on tankers in accordance with Regulation V/I paragraph 1.2 of STCW 1995.
COURSE OUTCOMES
On completion of the course, participants will be:
- Educated on safe handling of tanker cargoes including of a dangerous, hazardous and/or harmful nature
- Able to know the effect upon the safety of both the ship and life on board it
- Understanding of the usage of Cargo Safety Date Sheets as well as the methods of controlling hazards on tankers
- Educated on the basic working knowledge of relevant IMO conventions applicable to tankers concerning safety at sea
- The development of tankers and the types of cargoes as well as tanker terminology and tanker rules and regulations
- Trained to operate cargo pumping systems and associated control systems
- General cargo handling equipment onboard oil, chemical and liquefied gas tankers as well as a general awareness of safe cargo operational procedures on tankers
