AIMS & OBJECTIVES: The aim of this module is to provide the delegates with the knowledge and understanding of the legal and practical requirements of running and controlling a rigging loft. Learning Outcomes: To successfully complete this training, delegates MUST meet all the learning outcomes specified below: • Regulations applying to rigging loft management (LOLER) • The role and responsibilities of a Competent Authorized Person • Equipment certification, examination & inspection requirements • “T” card system • Rigging loft documentation & records to be maintained • Sling storage & handling requirements • Lifting equipment inspection checklists • Quarantine & equipment disposal procedure PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Delegates attending the CAP training shall be given a series of explanations and demonstrations. At the end of the course delegates shall be given a theory questionnaire to assess their understanding of the knowledge elements specified in the learning outcomes. The assessment is open book and a pass mark of 80% must be attained. This module contains practical exercises in which the delegates must take an active part. Delegate performance in these practical exercises will be evaluated against the course content. CERTIFICATION: Delegates successfully meeting the CAP Training requirements shall be awarded a BSJV Competent Authorized Person Level 1 Training Certificate, which indicates that the delegate has achieved the minimum level of training. Note: • This certificate DOES NOT imply competence in the Competent Authorized Person role. • The certificate DOES allow the delegate to proceed to the workplace to carry out CAP activities under the supervision of a Competent Person (CAP Level II). The CAP activities shall be recorded in a personal work experience log book issued to the delegate by the training provider. • The delegate CAP has 12 months from the date on his / her CAP Level I certificate to complete the workplace requirements specified in the log book and undertake CAP Level II Assessment. LOGBOOK: AIM OF LOGBOOK The aim of this log book is for the CAP Level I delegate to complete a series of supervised workplace tasks in order to gain relevant experience. The delegate must complete a log book record of the supervised CAP tasks. Delegates that complete the CAP Level I log book requirements within 12 months of successful completion of CAP Level 1 Training will be eligible to undertake the next stage of the programme which is the CAP Level II Competence Assessment. Note: • If the log book has not been fully completed within 12 months, the delegate shall NOT be entitled to undertake the CAP Level II Competence Assessment, plus he / she must re - attend the CAP Level 1 Training module. LOGBOOK REQUIREMENTS The CAP Level I work place experience log book shall be issued to the CAP Level I delegate by the Training Provider when he / she successfully completes CAP Level 1 Training module. The delegate must ensure that all the allocated activities are recorded in the log book and appropriate signatures are obtained. Signatories The delegate must ensure that after completing each CAP activity he / she obtains the signature of a competent rigger (i.e.) Level II certified. The competent person directly supervising the delegate must be satisfied that each of the allocated activities specified in the log book has been completed in a correct manner before signing the log book. Note: • Completion of the log book does not imply that the delegate is competent to carry out CAP activities unsupervised (i.e.) the delegate must successfully complete the next stage which is CAP Level II Competence Assessment.
