AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
The aim and objectives of the Lift Planner Level II competence assessment are to verify that the delegate has the required underpinning knowledge, understanding and practical skills to fulfill the role of Lift Planner effectively and unsupervised.
COMPETENCE ASSESSMENT:
The assessment criteria consist of a series of practical rigging and lifting activities. Prior to the commencement of each assessment the delegate will be provided with a hand out listing basic information of the lifting activity. Each delegate must then, by means of questioning the Assessor, determine which additional information is needed to produce a competent Lift Plan for each activity, AND apply that information to the Plan correctly.
The delegate shall be assessed on all three lift plans that he/she submits for the following activities:
· Task 1: Lift a <1000 kg valve (with no certified lifting points) from one location in a workshop to another some distance away, using hand chain hoists, tirfors, slings, shackles and other manual rigging equipment.
· Task 2: Lift a 250,000-kg tank from horizontal on a trailer, tailing it vertical, then moving and installing it on a prepared pedestal, using multiple mobile cranes.
· Task 3: Lift a 10,000-kg tank from the deck of a vessel to the deck of a platform, using a rig mounted pedestal crane.
Should any delegate be deemed Not Yet Competent, the relevant sections of the document(s) must be explained to him / her along with recommendations on how to meet the criteria. Delegates to request re - assessment when confident of meeting the criteria.
