AIMS & OBJECTIVES: The aim of this module is to provide the delegates with the knowledge and skills necessary to properly develop lift plans (using BSP’s standard lift plan template) for both critical and non - critical lifting operations. Learning Outcomes: This training module consists of the following units and elements: UNIT 1- The Purpose of Lift Plans • How do lift plans improve work performance & safety?  Who uses lift plans UNIT 2 - How to Develop Lift Plans • What information is required? • How are lifting operations categorized? • Who is responsible for preparing lift plans? • How to complete (fill - in) lift plan document? • How to sketch lift plan drawings? • Who endorses lift plans? • How to implement lift plans? PERFORMANCE EVALUATION Delegates attending the Lift Planner Level 1 training shall be given a series of explanations and demonstrations. At the end of the course delegates shall be given a theory questionnaire to assess their understanding of the knowledge elements specified in the learning outcomes. The assessment is open book and a pass mark of 80% must be attained. This module contains practical exercises in which the delegates must take an active part. Delegate performance in these practical exercises will be evaluated against the course content. CERTIFICATION: Delegates successfully meeting the Lift Planner Level I assessment requirements shall be awarded a BSJV Lift Planner Level I Certificate, which indicates that the delegate has achieved the minimum level of training Note: • This certificate DOES NOT imply competence in the Lift Planner role • The certificate DOES allow the delegate to proceed to the workplace to carry out Lift Planning activities under the supervision of a Competent Person (Certified Lift Planner). The Lift Planning activities shall be recorded in a personal work experience log book issued to the delegate by the training provider • The delegate Lift Planner has 12 months from the date on his / her Lift Planner Level 1 Training certificate to complete the workplace requirements specified in the log book and undertake Lift Planner Level II Assessment. LOGBOOK: AIM OF LOGBOOK The aim of this log book is for the Lift Planner Level I delegate to complete a series of supervised workplace tasks in order to gain relevant experience. The delegate must complete a log book record of the supervised Lift Planner tasks. Delegates that complete the Lift Planner Level I log book requirements within 12 months of successful completion of Lift Planner Level 1 Training shall be eligible to undertake the next stage of the programme which is the Lift Planner Level II Competence Assessment. Note: • If the log book has not been fully completed within 12 months, the delegate shall NOT be entitled to undertake the Lift Planner Level II Competence Assessment, plus he / she must re - attend the Lift Planner Level 1 Training module. LOGBOOK REQUIREMENT The Lift Planner Level 1 work place experience log book shall be issued to the Lift Planner Stage 1 delegate by the Training Provider when he / she successfully completes Lift Planner Level 1 Training module. The Lift Planner delegate must ensure that all the allocated activities are recorded in the log book and appropriate signatures are obtained. Signatories The Lift Planner delegate must ensure that after completing each Lift Planning activity he / she obtains the signature of a competent Lift Planner (i.e.) Level 2 certified. The competent person directly supervising the delegate must be satisfied that each of the allocated activities specified in the log book has been completed authentically and in a correct manner before signing the log book. Note: Completion of the log book does not imply that the Lift Planner delegate is competent to carry out Lift Planning activities unsupervised (i.e.) the delegate must successfully complete the next stage which is Lift Planner Level II Competence Assessment.
