This course is designed to realise the formal training requirements of the Competence Assurance Standard for an Authorised Gas Tester.

COURSE OUTCOMES

On completion of the course, participants will be able to:

·      List the main gases that could be encountered at their location,

·      List the characteristics of those gases

·      Use gas testing equipment to monitor occupational exposure and state the effects of the main toxic gases on the human body

·      Apply the PTW system, as it relates to the Authorised Gas Tester

·      Carry out tests for oxygen, toxic and flammable gases

·   List the principle hazards associated with gas freeing, cleaning and maintenance of equipment, and list the related duties of the Autho- rised Gas Tester

·       List the actions to take when carrying out gas testing

· State the limitations of use, and factors affecting, the accuracy of gas testing equipment

The course includes a written knowledge assessment.
