The course ensures that all staff designated as Fire Wardens in offices understand their roles in an emergency or fire related incident and fulfil the routine/daily responsibilities of Fire Wardens in a competent manner.
Participants will be trained in the actions and procedures to perform in the event of a fire-related incident, which includes the operation of fixed and portable fire-fighting equipment in the office area.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
On the completion of the course the participants will be able to:
· Describe the theory and mechanics of combustion.
· Use the portable and fixed fire fighting equipment in offices.
· Carry out a pre-evacuation check of office areas.
· Secure the office areas prior to evacuation.
· Exit a smoke filled environment and assist others to do so.
· Report correctly to headcount supervisors.
· Conduct/assist in accounting for personnel.
To successfully complete this training delegates must able to demonstrate:
· Responding to an alarm.
· Correct use of handheld portable fire extinguishers for different classes of fire.
· Self-rescue exercise with cosmetic smoke filled environment in a group exercise.
· Upright technique.
· Crawl technique.
