Anybody who needs a basic understanding of environmental issues in the workplace can take this course.


The NEBOSH Award in Environmental Awareness at Work qualification is designed to cover a range of issues affecting the global environment.


Topics include:

  • Basic environmental terms and their meaning
  • Sources, impacts and controls of air, water, noise and land pollution
  • Dealing with environmental emergencies • Introducing environmental impact (risk) assessments
  • Introduction to Environmental Management Systems

How much time do I need to dedicate to my studies?

The EAW qualification is a one day course. Classroom time is 8 hours.


How will I be assessed?

Unit EAW1 is a taught unit, assessed by a thirty-minute multiple choice online examination The exam will be taken place after the course on a separate day. Full details of the assessments will be given during the course with time put aside to fully brief students on the requirements of the assessment.

Pre-requisites: Candidates undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System score of 5.0 or higher in IELTS tests in order to be accepted onto NEBOSH Award in Environmental Awareness at Work programme.
