To prepare infrequent travelers for offshore travel by helicopter or boat and also includes relevant emergency response procedures and sea survival techniques.


COURSE OUTCOMES

On completion of the course, learners will be able to:

• Describe the pre boarding, boarding, and disembarkation procedures relevant to helicopters and boats

• State the types of transfer emergencies and describe the likely emer-gency scenarios

• Describe the evacuation process with reference to donning lifejackets, on-board emergency equipment, muster stations and escape routes, emergency exit points and their operation, sea survival techniques following evacuation

• Don an aviation and marine lifejacket

• Evacuate from a helicopter following an emergency dry landing

• Dry evacuation from a helicopter ditched in water to a life-raft

• Escape, through an exit underwater, from a partially submerged heli-copter

• Escape from a capsized helicopter and inflation of lifejacket

• Discuss various methods of transfer by boat/ barge to and from fixed facilities. Theoretical content covers personnel net (basket), swing rope and the ‘FROG’

• Identify the hazards involved during transfer, past incidents and learn¬ing points

• Describe operational procedures and good practice

• Demonstrate safe personnel net (basket) and swing rope transfer techniques in a variety of simulated sea conditions
