Who is the course for?

This qualification is for anyone who wants to carry out incident investigations effectively. Employers, supervisors, SHE champions, union and safety representatives will benefit.

Pre-requisites

Candidates undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System score of 5.0 or higher in IELTS tests in order to be accepted onto NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation programme.

What will I learn?

The 1.5 days NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation covers the following topics:

1.      Moral, legal and financial arguments for investigations

2.      Human and organisational factors that can contribute to an incident

3.      The process for investigating incidents

4.      Positive interview strategies and the barriers to successful interviews

How much time do I need to dedicate to my studies?

The Incident Investigation qualification is a 1.5 days course.

How will I be assessed?

The Incident Investigation course is assessed by the application of knowledge by analysis of a theoretical incident investigation Full details of the assessments will be given during the course with time put aside to fully brief students on the requirements of the assessment.

What will I be able to do after taking this qualification?

Independently investigate simple incidents

Gather evidence including conducting witness interviews

Produce an action plan to prevent a recurrence of an incident
