COURSE CODE: DD-12
Provides the opportunity for assessment of existing drivers of tipper truck vehicles and focuses on loading and un-loading techniques. Approximately 50% of the course is spent in vehicles given extensive active and passive learning opportunities for all participants.

The Tipper Truck course consist of both theory and practical instruction including:
 An introduction to the Construction Industry
 Current relevant regulations
 Introduction to the machines
 Pre-shift inspections of the machines
 Controls and instruments
 Coolant, Fuel and lubrication systems
 Trenching, back-filling, levelling and marking out
 Technical Test Theory Element
 How to drive site dumpers of various capacities and types
 How to drive safely and efficiently under differing site conditions including gradients
 How to tow and reverse small trailers  Positioning the dumper correctly for discharging into and loading from excavations
 Various maintenance and checks required before starting work
 Safe and correct methods of starting and stopping engines
 Safety precautions which must be carried out

METHODOLOGY This is a highly interactive classroom training program, whereby participants will gain and enhance their knowledge through understanding fundamentals of Driving. The practical session will boost participant’s confidence after knowing their fault and weaknesses being highlighted during in training. Participants will also be assessed on their knowledge before and after the newly acquired knowledge.
