AIMS & OBJECTIVES: The aim of this module is to provide the delegates with the necessary skills and knowledge required to operate various types of Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP)’s safely and efficiently. Learning Outcomes: To successfully complete this module, delegates are required to meet all the specified learning outcomes listed below: • Legal regulations that apply to MEWP’s • Types of MEWP’s • Planning work activity • PPE • Possible hazards • Pre - use checks • Positioning MEWP • Stability • Safe operating guidelines • Safe fueling and / or charging procedure PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Delegates attending the MEWP operation training shall be given a series of explanations and demonstrations. At the end of the course delegates shall be given a theory questionnaire to assess their understanding of the knowledge elements specified in the learning outcomes. The assessment is an open book and a pass mark of 80% must be attained. Delegates must also undergo a practical assessment which requires them to demonstrate: • Pre – operational checks • Operator safety • Checking worksite • Positioning MEWP • Setting up MEWP • Operating MEWP controls • Closing down MEWP
