AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
The aim of this module is to provide delegates with the necessary knowledge and skills required to safely operate a Lorry Mounted Crane.
Learning Outcomes:
To successfully complete this module, delegates are required to meet all the specified learning outcomes listed below:
• Legislation
• Introduction to loader cranes
• Operating principles and controls
• Pre - operational checks
• Lifting equipment attachments
• Siting the loader crane
• Deployment of stabilizer legs
• Use of controls
• Preparing the loader crane for use
• Operating the loader crane
• Stowing procedure
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION:
Delegates attending the Lorry Loader training shall be given a series of explanations and demonstrations. At the end of the course delegates shall be given a theory questionnaire to assess their understanding of the knowledge elements specified in the learning outcomes. The assessment is an open book and a pass mark of 80% must be attained.
The practical assessment requires the assessor to observe the delegates perform the following specified tasks to the required standard:
• Carrying out pre - operational checks
• Positioning vehicle and setting outriggers
• Unfolding crane from travelling position
• Slinging the load
• Lifting, slewing, lowering the load
• Obeying signals
• Folding the crane and stowing stabilizers
• General site safety
