COURSE CODE: MH-50
The aim of this module is to provide delegates with a basic understanding of the legal requirements and equipment utilized in Lifting & Hoisting Operations.
Learning Outcomes:
- List & identify applicable legislations, law & regulations, international and local standards related to Lifting & Hoisting
- Identify the applicable BSJV Lifting & Hoisting Standards/ Procedures
- Explain the importance of training, gaining experience and skills to achieve competency
- Explain the common rigging terminologies:
- Explain briefly the roles & responsibilities of a typical Lifting Crew (PIC, Rigging Supervisor, Banksman, Crane Operator, Rigger & Lift Planner)
- Describe a typical reporting structure of the Lifting Crew
- Explain the importance of having Lift Plans and Work Permits
- Identify & list different types of Lifting Equipment (appliances and accessories) for use on BSJV sites
- Explain the basic hitches used in rigging operations
- Explain the purpose of inspections & thorough examinations of Lifting Equipment
- The purpose of colour coding lifting equipment
- The importance of controlling and issuing of lifting equipment
