OBJECTIVES: To give learners a knowledge and understanding of:

• the role of the HDA

• legislation applicable to the helideck

• helicopter types

• procedures and equipment required for routine helideck operations

• procedures and equipment for an emergency response

• loading and unloading of passengers

• loading and unloading of baggage and freight

• refuelling of helicopter

• carrying out helideck tasks and checks as required by the HLO

• operating fire fighting equipment

• responding to helideck emergencies
